Founded by Rachel Tolentino Marshall, a proud Yawuru and Karajarri woman, Liyan Mayi Catering brings the heart of the Kimberley to your table. Rachel's passion for sharing the rich traditions of her heritage shines through every dish, blending authentic ingredients with modern flair.
Rachel’s mission is to bring people together through food that celebrates culture, connection, and sustainability.
Who we serve
We proudly cater to corporate businesses, government agencies, and not-for-profit organisations within Perth and surrounding areas. We've had the pleasure of serving clients like Lifeline WA, Wungening Aboriginal Corporation, St John Ambulance, Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA, and Laing O’Rourke/MetCONNX.
Our Story
Liyan Mayi Catering, meaning "Soul Food" in Yawuru, was founded in August 2023 by Rachel Tolentino Marshall, a proud Yawuru and Karajarri woman.
The inspiration for Liyan Mayi came after Rachel lost her grandmother, her greatest role model. Cooking her grandmother’s recipes became a way to honour her memory and share the love, connection, and healing that food can bring. Today, that same spirit is infused into every dish prepared at Liyan Mayi Catering.
Our vision is to be a leading and innovative caterer in Western Australia, known for our commitment to culinary excellence and cultural connection. By bringing people together over delicious, culturally enriched food, we aim to foster greater appreciation for the diversity and beauty of both local and global flavours.
As a 100% Aboriginal-owned, female-led business, we take pride in blending tradition with innovation, sustainability, and heartfelt service.
